By David Leyonhjelm, published 17/8/2017

There was an almost religious belief that the environment simply needed more water...despite the fact that water can do more harm than good...

The Basin Plan is a complete mess and the water policy being enforced involves a tremendous waste of money. One example of stupidity was the Government purchase of water entitlements in the Lachlan Valley, supposedly to help South Australia. The Government paid too much for water that, in any case, only makes it through to the lower Murray when there is a huge flood (every 30 years of so).

The ill-concieved Plan costs hundreds of millions each year in lost production, mainly in NSW. A very poor use of our taxes and an awful waste of valuable water.

The floods are a bit more often than 30 years. Is the plan for supplying S Aust when the flow problem is known?
" . It is the only river in New South Wales with significant wetlands along its length, rather than just towards its end, including Lake Cowal-Wilbertroy, Lake Cargelligo and Lake Brewster, and nine wetlands of national significance.."

The great barrier reef is 100% cement which will balance a budget or two.
