Many Queenslanders believe Adani mine does pass muster : Comments

By Gary Johns, published 11/8/2017

Broadcaster Alan Jones is a climate sceptic who campaigns against renewables, drilling gas and digging coal. Which makes it pretty hard to live.

"For regional Queensland, this mine means thousands of well-paid jobs in the regional community, and for the state and country $bns of tax revenue."

This has nothing to do with Greens, Blues or Pinks.

if the GBR turns up its toes there will be 40-50 thousand jobs in tourism decimated. Adani will at best, employee about 1200 personnel after the construction phase.

Adani has form of losing money so after all of the damage is done they will close up the mine and walk away; which they have done in many overseas sites including India. This is precisely why no financial institutions in Oz or offshore will fund this ridiculous project...the risk far exceeds any potential return.

Bit late for the a "re muster" look at the project.

For 1/10th of the investment with zero risk QLD could build a massive renewables project that would employ many more personnel. If you doubt this look at the latest stats from the US where renewables has easily passed mining as a major employment sector.

Pure fantasy Peter,

The health of the GBR depends on how much coal is burnt in China and India, and as the emissions are likely to be less from the high-quality coal from the Adani mine, the GBR might actually be better off.

Secondly, the huge mine will need up to 10 000 workers to build and then a couple of thousand to run and support the mill, and the $bns of tax revenue will go towards the vast waste by Labor.
