Stopping people from having the occasional can is not only preachy and patronising - it will do nothing to combat obesity.

I have observed that some very large people buying large quantities of coke zero, which is reported to have zero sugar.

Most breads contain 1-3% sugar, and one slice of bread (~35g) thus has only less than 1g of sugar (a fifth of a teaspoon). This is 'slightly' less than the 45g that you claim!!
