Handing farmers a slice of the royalties on gas extracted from underneath their land, may transform the present blame shifting of the debate.

Dear Bernie,

Thank you for your kind comment and information.

However, as much as I hate the main political parties, as a vegetarian I cannot bring myself to vote for such a party. I could only wish for the "Farmers" to split from the "Shooters and Fishers".

Good to see recognition of the real costs of the gas extraction and piping to farmers with a more substantial cut of the royalties. However, sovereign risk makes direct contracts with farmers a better option and would see more gas released than royalties.

Much of the cost shifting particularly in the construction phase needs to be eliminated by better construction and more flexibility in the construction methods, and the gas industry developing respectful relationships with the land owners. The present construction methods, communication and information flow in disgraceful!
