Are calls for Trump state visit ban misguided? : Comments
By Mal Fletcher, published 1/2/2017The current calls for a ban on President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK are heartfelt. Yet in certain important respects they are also perhaps misguided or even, in some cases, disingenuous.

How times have changed.
In November 2015 Therese May called for Trump to be banned from visiting the UK. Now she's just finished elbowing others aside to be the first in line to let him grab her by the pussy. Anyway, after the visit they were holding hands, she came away satisfied, and seemed to be happy. Baroness Warsi is typical of the leftard zombies who think that lemon-sucking, and the blind adoration of totalitarian national socialism, is some kind of virtue-signalling. Posted by Jardine K. Not only misguided, but stupid and childish. More and more people of the Left are against democracy, fairness and common sense.

People holding a passport from Israel are banned from many muslim countries including ('moderate' Malaysia). Never a word from the hypocrite leftist tantrum throwers or the abc luvvies.

If I think a "Leader" is acting as the dumbest bloke on the planet? Then I'll call him out and put my name to the critique! As should all well intentioned folk, with a still operational oral compass!

A tolerance of criticism and of dissenting opinions
is in my opinion fundamental to democracy. Governing parties must resist the temptation to equate their own policies with the national good, or they will tend to regard opposition as disloyal or even treasonable. People have a right to peaceful protests. A tolerance of criticism and of dissenting opinions as stated earlier is fundamental to democracy. Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 1 February 2017 4:05:56 PM

People can protest until the cows come home for all I care. What I find absurd is that people who are always complaining about politicians not keeping their promises are now complaining because President Trump IS keeping his promises! There has to be a point, even for hysterical human beings like the U.S protestors, when it is realised that the regime has changed - because a democratic election says it has. Protesting against a man for doing what he said he would -and being elected to do so - makes spoilt two year olds look rational by comparison.

One can be forgiven for believing Donald's better Angels might have persuaded him to think about all the consequences before emulating, a would be if he could be tyrant?
His ban without any reasonable notice on certain passports has left dozens of permanent residents stranded overseas, cut of from loved ones, American born kids, property, income earned to honor mortgage payments, associates who depend on their skills (lawyers doctors scientists, translators) and earned careers! As for some of this man's outlandish ideas, they speak to me of megalomania writ large and or, the early signs of intellectually crippling (delusions of grandeur) dementia! And therefore, "unable to change his mind", when countenancing downright dumb decisions, which should have instead, become non core promises? Look, if you want to keep undesirables out of your country, then it is as simple as meeting them at the entry points, armed with both computer facial recognition technology and thermal imaging. Which used together covertly, become a virtually unbeatable lie detector, not even compulsive liars/psychopaths can beat! Now, if we could just find a way to covertly, and it's both possible and doable, to subject politicians of all persuasion and public officials to similar integrity testing? Moreover, they'd only ever need to know, their veracity had been minutely, microscopically tested, when and if they fail! If only we could ask Donald to front such a technically assisted investigation? In any event, I believe, when the false promised induced honeymoon is over, this man will become less popular, and the republican party with him, than a pork chop at a Ba Mizhar? Mid term elections are just two years away! And all we need are social democrats in the Democratic party standing on social equity platforms! Social Democrat at heart, (quote unquote) Joh would be ever so pleased! Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Wednesday, 1 February 2017 6:54:44 PM

That's beautifully hit. A good 10 - 15 rows back... The crowd goes wild. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJxOPRvYSlk Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 2 February 2017 5:47:42 PM

What is really silly about all these protests and hurling of abuse ?
The parameters of the entry testing was not set up by Trump. It was all prepared by Barak Obama ! Gawd ! The mind boggles ! Posted by Bazz, Monday, 6 February 2017 3:26:53 PM

If only the misguided protester had some interest in real problems. how about they all go to the countries he has band refugees from. Protest for democracy and freedom of religion and see how they go.
