Boxing Day trade restrictions a blast from the past : Comments

By John Slater, published 4/1/2017

For retail's scores of part time and casual employees, longer opening hours often mean being able to work shifts that suit them best. This is especially true for school and tertiary students.

Mikk you can't be serious. the boss does not determine a workers shift in the retail industry, the consumer does. The boss simply arranges staff to be available when the demand is there.

If you ask me there is no need for shops to be open on boxing day as this is a recent fad that the big retailers brought in to kill off the small guy and many of thier workers on public holidays are salery workers who get paid no extra but receive time off in lue.
