From what I can recall, most of the Sri Lankans were deemed to be economic migrants, and have no rights to permanent residence.

Being mainly Tamil why not return to India from whence their forebears came?

There is absolutely no reason for Sri Lankans to be living or working anywhere but Sri Lanka. Australia has no need of them.

“Racism”, “cruelty” reveal the level of scholarship of this Ph D research and the expectations of “asylum seekers”.

Have you read the the Phd thesis, then? "Racism" has nothing to do with Sri Lankans, who are in no need of asylum, working here or even being allowed to stay here. There are Sri Lankans living here legally and working, including one paid $300,000 p.a to interfere in our freedom to express ourselves and our beliefs.
