The aim is to serve coalition free market policies on banking and financial services, but without raising apprehension that the government will influence ASIC's judgment of what constitutes unfair treatment of consumers.

Compelling argument and agreed, except the part where the leader or the party actually decides the best course of action or the actual outcome?

As always in politics, he who pays the piper calls the tune? And in some cases may even purchase the very best democracy money can buy?

Were that not the case? We would have already had a royal commision into one of the most profitable banking systems anywhere, surely?

Max wants an open ended royal commission that has no specific target, where a judge gets to design social engineering.

Seriously?
