Moving Australia’s embassy to Jerusalem is fanciful Senator Paterson : Comments

By George Browning, published 24/3/2016

If this was such a good idea, one wonders why no country has actually done it. No country in the world has its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem.

Yes fanciful indeed!

But then what can you expect from patently pompous parsimonious politicians like Paterson, who seem to have a paradoxical, pleonastic, parlous, pejorative, predilection for opening the mouth, merely to change socks?

There's an irish expression that probably expresses it better, "you can't polish a turd."

Regardless of the occupied territories, Western Jerusalem is going to remain Israel's capital, so on the face of it there is nothing wrong with having the Australian embassy in Western Jerusalem.

However, the main roads leading to Jerusalem (including a small section of freeway #1 and most of freeway #443), as well as the new train-line under construction, pass through the West Bank, so conscientious employees and visitors would find it difficult to get to the embassy. Still they can get to Western Jerusalem via the old roads, #44 and #38 that were used as the main road to Jerusalem before 1967, it just takes longer.

seems like the good Senator has a far better grasp of history and decency than the Bishop who is being used as a puppet for terrorist.

".... you can't polish a turd.""

but you can, I have one on my desk at home.

"Coprolites" , ancient turds, can be polished to a high lustre, depending on time and composition and the angle of the cut(s)

Yes Is Mise, however we just can't wait for millennia for our current crop of turds, or farts with lumps in them (oops, opps, bugger) to become polisable!?

Oh John Ryan and with your pathetically flawed current narrative you think you have a grasp on history. Its not 1 April.

Best ignore him, just another political puppet with zero life experience who will be gone at the next election.

John Ryan, best to ignore our resident troll Runner he lost any grip on reality some time ago. think of the dumbest thing a right wing theocratic nut job would say and runner has most likely said something dumber.

I am surprised that a Bishop would have such a perverted knowledge of history.
Clearly the Arabs invaded the Levant including what is known as Israel historically.
It is the Arabs who are the invaders. The problem is that Islam states
that land once occupied by moslems remains moslem land forever.
So, don't be surprised if moslems claim Spain as well as Israel.
After all the Koran says so.

It is about time that history is explained to those who think that
the Arabs "own" Palestine as they call it.

Dear Bazz,

Israel has the right to exist and thrive, but it cannot be helped by the historical argument because many of the currently-Arab/Palestinian people in the region are descendants of the original Israelis who were only forced to convert to Islam due to the Jizya tax. On the contrary, these ancient Israelis remained on the land through the centuries while their brothers who remained Jewish were abroad.

Interesting point Yu.
I wonder if they would accept that they are Jewish ?
That perhaps should be the measure. Of course they would have to
reject the Occupier rhetoric.

If they made their claim on that basis they would have to accept that Israel is legitamet !
