Yes runner it's shameful that state schools teach children about anal sex.......
Much better for a religious school to get it's priest to give them practical demonstrations.

Asclepius, david f

Yes, indeed, economic or fiscal arguments are irrelevant. It's not the business of a secular state to subsidise religious institutions, the argument that the practice is saving taxpayers' money is specious.

Religious institutions should be treated like any other corporation and be liable to taxation.

Dear runner,

Some people find their moral base as you do in superstition - big daddy mumbojumbo in the sky. Others can dispense with such nonsense and find compassion for others in the realisation that all of us whether they believe in your mumbojumbo, some other mumbojumbo or no mumbojumbo find it good to live together in peace.

The facts are:

1 Independent schools cost the governments less per child than government schools. Thus defunding them would cost government more.

2 Money spent by parents sending their kids to these schools is nearly 100% spent in the area, providing jobs and more taxes, unlike buying cars, TVs etc.

3 The education on average produces a far better and rounded education, in spite of the skewed lefty stats, with 85% of NSW Uni placed filled by either Independent or selective schools, and the professions such as doctors lawyers etc vastly represented by independent students as well.
