Will Kiribati be the new Atlantis? : Comments

By Peter McCloy, published 7/10/2015

The facts indicate that the problems of Kiribati may be due to factors other than climate change – that’s the conclusion of a Kiribati government/UN report.

how long before leftists accuse the article author of blaspheming against the unholy, settled, scientific scriptures on AGW religion?

And, it might not be due to anything, and not actually happening at all, as has been claimed by many. There whole thing is likely to be another UN/alarmist/third world scam to extract money from the West.

Subsidence is nothing new, that is currently happening in the state of California, with prolonged drought and depletion of ground water. It only makes sense if you take from the ground without replacing anything you will get subsidence.

Kiribati has been aware of their situation for years, but that is not their concern about Climate change. They are in the firing line for Typhoons which are increasing in intensity. Islands can only take so much and the ferocity of recent typhoon activity has caused unprecedented damage.

Rising sea level is playing a part as their subsidence together with rising sea levels are causing troubles that were not present in times gone by. That is why the sea walls they have, but sea walls go against them in typhoon times. So you could say they are destined to become homeless if the current trend continues.

It is always best to do your own research as well as read what someone has written to cross-examine their reasoning’s, and their motives if any are involved

Dear Lord,

Save us from the wilfully ignorant please.

Dear Peter,

Here is a video describing the latest modelling done by NASA involving world class scientists using satellite data collected since 1992.

These are not musings about land subsidence from a retired political staffer but cold hard number crunching. Note the West Pacific which has been particularly impacted by sea level rising “particularly rapidly” over the last quarter of a century.

Perhaps next time a little more research might be in order next time you write about Kiribati.

doog & SteeleRedux, yeah right, why has there been no sea level rise in Queensland?

http://www.galileomovement.com.au/docs/HaveWeBeenToldTheTruthAboutSeaLevel(amended).pdf

if the level of the Pacific ocean is rising? then why on one side, in the middle & not the on the other side in Queensland?

The USA has had a fair bit of sea level rise that we have not seen here yet. Their sea level increase is coming from Ice Land and Alaska. By the time the water rise hits this side of the world it has evened out and less rise is measured.

You need to do some research to answer third grade questions.
