Book review: When We Were Young And Foolish : Comments

By Sean Jacobs, published 5/10/2015

Tangling sharply against these kinds of ideas was a young Tony Abbott who, as a student, seemed under constant threat from radical university peers.

What sneaking tributes this book and review are to Abbott. Too late.

RIP Abbott 2013-1955.

Yes Abbott is at his "best" in the rough and tumble of venom politics. Too bad he failed to be a democratic Prime Minister.

The review's coverage of religious influences is very relevant to Abbott, though not to more enlightened Australian society.

One only hopes that the religious Abbott (as new Ambassador to the Vatican) on Pell's knee can be given a smack.

I trust that Greg Sheridan’s book will be read as giving a more rounded view of Tony Abbott’s student days than David Marr’s essay did. Those interested in the criticism of David Marr’s article that Quarterly Essay refused to publish may find it at:

Chris C's memories align closely with my own - graduating from UNSW in 1972. I cannot however claim to be as close to the action.

Carz & plantagenet, well you may get all you wanted & more from Malcontent Turnbull.

"imacentristmoderate"

Looks like you're a trojan horse, Abbott-faithful, conservative, only masquerading as a centrist moderate.

Turnbull is certainly more centrist and moderate than Pell's man Abbott.
