By Rod McGarvie, published 29/9/2015

However for many in today's younger generation the ABC would be almost irrelevant as they source news, information and entertainment from very different mediums.

"Why is the ABC so Sydney centric" Take a step back mate and have a think, if you get your budget cut then you consolidate. The fact that the ABC has done what just about every other large organisation has done is centralise their resources as much as possible in order to try and save money has seem to passed you by.

If you want to be a polly that adds to constructive government then come up with a plan.

As for your " political influence that it wields as a national broadcaster is not conducive to supporting a healthy democracy" is one of the funniest things I've for some time, Murdoch anybody?

"criticism of the Catholic church" I guess that means the ABC shouldn't be reporting the kiddie fiddling going on?

Another instance of the sad phenomenon of misusing the word 'reform' to mean diminish, shackle, destroy

The only person who could have done something about the out of control ABC, Tony Abbott bottled out. Turnbull the Usurper is a friend of the ABC. So, short of a majority of freedom-loving Australian citizens demanding that the organisation be privatised, nothing is going to change.

The ABC will not be going anywhere, If you do not want bad press do not make bad news.

Abbott had gremlins in the belfry. He thought the whole world was out to get him, in the end he was right.

The ABC does more for the community than all of the commercial stations put together. You say the ABC is biased, what about these shockjoks what do you call them.

Any govt; that is in power is in the firing line, that only stands to reason. Politicians without cross examination would be liable to saying anything to fill a question. We need their accountability to be bought to the surface, so we get the truth.

Turnbull will handle the ABC with respect, he is more likely not to conceal outcomes of changes in the hope of media not picking up on it. There is a world of difference between Turnbull and Abbott.
If you get caught out misleading the media you will not survive without losing a lot of fur. So you must be upfront and honest to eliminate the cross examination. How often did Abbott get caught out trying to mislead the media, and then give a different story at a later questioning.

All the bunkum against the ABC is sour grapes, and has nothing to do with the media being to tough on any particular political party, it’s a matter of being able to handle an interview.

Politicians are invited to inform the public of what is happening in our interest, if they go away grumbling it is their own fault.
