In Turnbull, spit and polish will be employed to cover what essentially will be policies similar to Abbott.

Rechub Morrison is the very reason why Abbott got the boot. He and Abbott are the same kind. They have a likenesses to Hitler. Public opinion will bring you down every time. Backbenchers like to know their job is being looked after.

Abbott’s open govt; It was totally closed even to his own party.
Treat the people like they do not need to know, is just foolhardy.
But in all situations like Abbott he had his loyal followers that belong in another time and place.

Austerity has a fallacy of working to save money, people close their wallets, to counter the austerity measures, so you gain nothing, and business suffers.

For any type of rationalism you need to talk to the people that it will affect. Abbott’s approach was to bully people.

This term of govt; was mismanaged from day one, and it took far to long to dislodge the self styled supremo

rechtub, nicely summed up. I'm less than convinced by Turnbull but hope he can deliver on the change in approach he claims.

Abbott has made much of not being like Labor, he has the power to make that so by ensuring he and as far as he has a say his supporters don't act like Rudd and his supporters.

Much has been said of voters electing Abbott as PM, our system does not give that opportunity. The election of Rudd in 07 was perhaps somewhat presidential in the way it was run and in peoples expectations. I don't think there is any credible basis for suggesting that the last election had the same flair. Labor was tossed out and an Abbott lead coalition was the only other game in town. I didn't detect any widespread signs of fervour for Abbott, rather a determination to get rid of Labor and perhaps at best for most the hope that Abbott might be able to step up to the mark.

We don't elect a PM, the party room does and the closest we get is when it's clear to a party that their best chance of winning government is with a particular leader (or without a particular leader).

Abbott just kept putting his foot in it as far as the voters were concerned, eg Bishop hanging in there.. Howard was very good at allowing someone else to float an idea, then endorsing it or dismissing it, depending on public reaction. Abbot initiated policies without enough thought and consultation with colleagues.

His great achievement was stopping the boats and that is how he will be remembered. Little else that affected history, unless the idea of a plebiscite can catch on and be used for other issues. I hope that it does.

We live in a competitive world and so long as CEO's can get dumped, why not party leaders?

There is little doubt, even to liberal voters like myself, that Abbott turned out to be a dud. But one thing the coalition has that labor does not have, is depth and experience.

While Turnbul is a self made multi milliomaire, the likes of Shoreton is little more than a union thug, unwilling to except that the good times are gone and we are faced with flexibility or no jobs.

Hopefully he will wake up before it's too late for more than just our car industries.

Just for Rectub This is why we had to destroy your leader.

The truth has lost it’s way, this govt; has been a miserable failure. We are moving from one disaster to another, the last effort was an attempt at marshal law in Melbourne. How pathetic can this govt; get.

Very few people are supporting Abbott, they are ashamed to say anything about politics. The experiment has failed. Abbot said he would do anything except sell his backside to get into power, well at the last election he did just that. Lies, promises, one million jobs, and everything positive, and that is what he went to the election on.

The people voted for a Coalition govt; and what did we get. We got a Conservative govt; and a budget from hell, 100 % attack on the voters, Abbotts standing suffered an unrepearabel hit. Our country was headed for a catastrophe of mega proportions stated by our treasurer.
We are now in election mode and again being promised the worlds riches, Tax cuts when wages are all-but static, Ladies can go back to work and keep welfare payments. The rot is again setting in like a cancer.
Under the direction of [ Abbott ] this govt; which is more like a one man govt; we have denigrated and become stagnated, Business and consumer alike do not trust Abbott, investment has dwindled to an all-time low, while 110 billion has been added to our debt in 2 years a record breaking amount, without any directed at job creation. This govt; has created it’s own recession, I believe to demonstrate an agenda, we are not allowed to know about.

Only hard core believers can now support the hard right Conservative govt;
Australia is in need of an election to clear the air and reset our governmental strategy to again make this nation a great place to live and work, with confidence.
