The queen: a living lesson in privacy management : Comments

By Mal Fletcher, published 11/9/2015

We increasingly blur the line between what is considered private and what is open to outside scrutiny. The Queen has demonstrated that one can be accessible to the outside world, without pandering to rampant voyeurism.

Hail to Her Majesty.

After more than 1,000 years of PR spin the UK Royal Family were sure to get it right finally.

But the Windsors are just upstarts https://youtu.be/ejRJXR92B7g

We Plantagenets did it better https://youtu.be/65-cIkBSPA4

Plantas are a bit like Bomber Abbott's Cabinet. Aye?

Good luck with that. Yah I think I had a royal cousin in some many degrees there somewhere, our lineal descents being separated by way of a few Caledonian cattle rustlers and deranged poets from the woods of old Ireland.

Plantagenet
Do you mean to say you are a real Plantagenet and all? Now that is a name to conjure with.

Yes, that ole Queen Elizabeth sure has been excrutiatingly polite, ain't she? It's a wonder a body don't suffer a brain rupture from that amount of chronic politeness. Perhaps she will break her own mould one day and the real radical in her will come out but it's looking decreasingly likely.

But you know, in the scheme of things, I think I prefer the dull but polite monarchs to your average Plantagenet :-)

Hi JKJ

In my commoner estimation the Queen has been (is) very good value, providing one of the pillars of Westminster democracy. Her staying on the job has prevented some other less worthy relatives from getting the job and stuffing it up.

Charlie may be much too influenced by the brighter Camilla (or too little influenced) to be a popular King - though not as bad as real Plantagenets.

If the Queen bats to a Century the Charles-CAMILLA reign may be mercifully brief - until the better William-Kate team get the guernsey.

The Queen's Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/Queen-Elizabeth-140671425981842/timeline/ seems a fair reflection of her balanced public image.

Not too splashy. Her outfits are not too fashionable nor drab. There is the solid hat and handbag that we've come to expect.

Some ordinary people have their Posts on it.

"The Royal Baby" is linked https://www.facebook.com/The-Royal-Baby-1401630640051091/timeline/ .

Some great St James Palace photos eg. https://www.facebook.com/140671425981842/photos/a.440980932617555.92300.140671425981842/803491753033136/?type=1&theater

A well balanced site, like her image.

Even better than mine https://www.facebook.com/Plantagenet-Descendants-261227000583637/timeline/

I look forward to Australia becoming a Republic, so we can leave all that outdated, old-fashioned Royal rubbish where it belongs....back in the old country.
We need to grow up and move on now...

And look forward to sensible and intelligent heads of state like George Bush....

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd much prefer some inbred and outdated European fossil over the likes of Trump. Queen Elizabeth II has more decency and decorum in her right thumbnail than Trump has in his entire ludicrous toupee.

God save the Queen: long may she protect us from the ridiculous buffoons who would otherwise become our head of state.

Really Toni?
Do you think the politicians we have here are any better than those in the U.S.?
What about that mad Palmer?
I reckon he could give Trump a run for his money!

Suse,

As an Irish Republican/Australian Monarchist I dread the thought of an Australian Republic.
Our pollies would rort the system for all it was worth.
Today is bad enough; Dutton flew to Europe for talks andat the same time I had a video talk to my second son who is on holiday in Paris; cost a cent or two.

Plantagenet,

I have 14 Plantagenets on my tree including Richard 1st, got to him through various lines in Scotland, including Joan "The Dumb Lady" Stewart.
see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Stewart,_Countess_of_Morton

an interesting lady.

Is Mise, I thought you said you were Scottish?
If you are a Monarchist, you may be disappointed to find yourself living in the Republic of Australia, because it is inevitable I believe.

As for Dutton and his silly trip to 'discuss the refugee crisis' overseas, I totally agree with you. There is absolutely no need for him to face these others in person in these days of such amazing communication technology.
But hey, it's what politicians from all over the world do, Monarchists, Republics, or not!

Jardine,

What on earth are you banging on about. Do you wonder why it was deleted. ? Too controversial. Our media has been controlled for 100 yrs, fool. You don't believe it and fall for all the controlled propaganda by the Murdoch press and fellow globalist cabal. Have you ever wondered why Murdoch is hell bent on control? There is an underground war going on the internet. And you fall for the Corporate Commie lies.

Suse,

I'm Irisn, Scots and English through the great grandparents and from a few hundred years before them a hell of a mixture goes back, including Welsh, Scandinavian, Russian, French, Italian, German, Hungarian and places further East.

It doesn't make me anyone special but it does add some interest to history, I was fortunate that a Scots ancestor who was a prosperous farmer married a daughter of a (probably just about broke) nobleman and she brought with her an impressive family tree.

"Do you wonder why it was deleted. ?"

Do I wonder why what was deleted? I can't quite make out what about your posts I'm supposed to be scandalised by. But I'm willing, I assure you.

Gee, Constance, I must admit to having missed that piece of stupidity as well; still it is interesting in a way, shews the depths etc.
