Simply put, no Pollie decides to spruce up his or her office!

It something presided over by an entirely independent public service body!

And you have the gall to critique MSM for gilding the lily.

But we may see eye to eye on many of the other issues, such as the way Mrs Bishop spent $90,000.00+ or - a few thou, of our money; reportedly trying to become president of the International parliament?

As a very young man I spent some time in a workshop, where I needed to borrow some tools, other peoples.

In order to facilitate that outcome I first needed to state my reason for needing them and fill out a requisition form justifying my need.

As anybody else needs to do even from their own petty cash!

This is what I think should happen with parliamentarians expenses.

Justify and sign for first!

And as such should be exclusively connected to their parliamentary duties.

As for party political functions any untoward out of pocket expenses, should either be out of pocket or paid for by the party; and not the current carte blanche.

Our pollies are almost the most highly rewarded in the world in comparison with other countries.

Given those parliaments compare apples with apples and fair reward rather than comparisons with the obscene salaries of some CEO's!

Why even backbenchers are getting a reported $250,000.00 or thereabouts per; just for showing up and saying aye when the whip decides they ought?

And their retirement packages are among the most generous in the country? Even those sacked by the people for sheer ineptitude, incompetence or corruption; or all the above?

I mean it's not as if they don't have staff doing most of their so called work and writing their speeches for them?

Remember Rudd and how mercilessly he reportedly flogged his staff? I mean if anyone deserves a more generous pay packet; it should be the real brains behind the operation, not their flog em to death masters?
