Or more likely, strong ethnic identities will outlive any utopian-propaganda-based state.
"As the Yugoslav state, along with the common Yugoslav identity, began to fade"
Was there ever a strong Yugoslavian identity?
That these peoples so readily reverted to regional ethnic "territories" would indicate there was not.
The same ethnic territory revival happened with the collapse of another "strong" state: the Soviet Union.
The lesson we should have learned was that no political magic tricks can unite a people who aren't *already* united in their identity.
With the multicultural immigration snowball continuing in the West, apparently this is a lesson still not learned (sigh).
Where will Australia's Srebrenica be?
