When will Turkey apologise for the Armenian genocide? : Comments

By Babette Francis, published 6/5/2015

Why then did the Pope risk losing the goodwill from Turkey, a NATO ally, by his comments less than six months later on the Armenian genocide?

Actually, the Ottoman government's genocide of the Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians was not the first genocide of the 20th Century. It was the second genocide of the 20th Century. The first genocide of the 20th Century was the German genocide of the Herero and Namaqua people in West Africa.

Another brilliant, incitefull post from Ms Francis. There was a time when Christian Europe did not turn a blind eye to Christian persecution and massacre in the Middle East as it is doing so today, it was a call by another pope, Pope Urban II in 1095, to protect these very same people from genocide, perpetrated by the same people.

Perhaps we should send Ruddie over there, to show them how it's done without changing anything real. And if a few solemn pious parsimonious words can finally put this matter to rest, why not!?

And we could have repeat performances around the world for any other example of once officially sanctioned genocide!

Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, USA, Canada, England, Africa, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burma, China, Australia, Russia, Japan, Germany, although to be fair to the latter, they've acknowledged and apologized for most of theirs?

Fungus. Just 'Wikied' (is that grammatically sound?) your comment. Most interesting and accurate.

I agree that the entire civilised world should bare the guilt of allowing Turkey to get away with genocide at the time it happened.

They are still guilty of sweeping it under the carpet.

Given the current troubles with Islam and the acquiescence to Islam by the modern leaders of these same civilised countries who turned their backs on the Armenians, including Australia; and who now are allowing the spread of Islam by immigration, might not it be said that guilt is now being incurred by these 'leaders' for future genocides in the name of Islam? Only the guilt might not be recorded, because there will eventually be no civilised countries left, if Islam continues to take hold.

Turkey denies the genocide, because that's part of the Islamic creed: concealment and lies when they are cornered or threatened. Their word for lying sounds better, but it's nothing to do with our language.
Nothing has changed in the Koran, other Islamic literature, nor in the intent. Forget about 'moderate' Muslims: if they are moderate, they will be wiped out, too, just like those in the Middle East have been, simply for being not good enough Muslims.

We are not just talking about 'something terrible in the early 20th Century', or something Muhammed did 7 centuries ago. The horror is still just below the surface in the 21st Century.

The threat of conversion, dhimmitude or death, still applies to this day. Although, given the increasing viciousness in the Middle East, like the Armenians, we might not be allowed the first two options.

Soon it will be too late for our cowardly, ignorant, so-called leaders to face up to the truth of Islam.

Ttbn. I am afraid that You have made a frighteningly depressing but accurate summation of the current situation.

Rhrosty. I should look up the definition of 'geonicide' were I you and modify the list you have provided.
