Israel is in a very dangerous location, but let's face it, the reason it's there is because the Zionists of the late 19th and early 20th century fought very hard and well for just that outcome. It's always been a dangerous part of the world, as a cursory perusal of the Jewish scriptures will readily attest. It's full of stories of great battles and the triumphal trampling of the tribes of Israel around the region.

The Jewish diaspora was the result, when successive more powerful groups got sick of putting up with the constant trouble-making and booted the Israelites out. What is sad is that this is now the third time the descendants of the Israelites have got back to that land and you really don't seem to have learnt a damn thing about getting on with the people around you.

1. The current generation of Western thinkers and concerned citizens have no practical understanding of war. War is like a plastic wrapped steak in the supermarket. The distasteful ugly facts of war are a at best a dim theoretical memory for those in comfortable armchairs making emotional conclusions news-watching images and hearing bite size reports and comments from interested parties. Polite nice sensibilities of compassionate westerners completely displace the ability, inclination and responsibility to gain a comprehensive understanding based on investigation BEFORE making conclusions.
Conclusions based on only part of the information are like half cooked soup - hardly worth digesting.
2. drone warfare has given the false idea to people that war can be prosecuted with no or few civilian casualties. The fact is civilians die in war. Usually 75% of casualties.
3. Israel is clearly but fairly held to a higher standard than any others middle eastern neighbours. We like to think of israel as nice Westerners who just happen to be in the lmiddle East. What's not realised is that israel has become in many ways a Middle Eastern country. The nice plastic wrapped sanitised ways of doing things in the west just do not apply in that region. Valid criticism real point to specifics and Waze things were done badly or could have been done better. In valid criticism is vilifying all nation with highlighting marker.
4. The Palestinian propaganda machine has become much more proficient and deliberately adept at tugging the heartstrings of western softies with accompanying terrible images. They can count on the fact that investigation will stop at that point and conclusions drawn. Interestingly people do not want to work through contradictory reports. They'll latch onto the most potent one.
5. Unequal criticism is real and is also a convenient vehicle for anti-Jewish hatred. This can be seen in the huge upsurge of attacks on European jews which are driving ever increasing numbers to israel. I can't help think that this reality is a Major miscalculation on the part of the Palestinians.
