The key reason why he got involved in banking was because he knew nothing about banking; not knowing can be a blessing. You learn on your own.

Good article, well written and a great, positive and indubitably pragmatic example to follow!

Every system is perfectly adapted to the outcomes it produces. This includes trapping Bangladeshi women in a subsistence cycle.

Yunus is a classic example of working on the blindingly obvious - so blindingly obvious that it's unseen and takes twenty years to be an overnight success. His persistence and focus are exemplars to us all: solutions can be found to seemingly intractable.

Great article: change can be found in communities ... and such change doesn't have to threaten the rich and powerful. In fact, a stabler, safer - AND more just - world can be found in empowering women and others who are excluded.
