By Peter Sellick, published 15/7/2014

The most powerful works of Christian art do more than illustrate biblical narrative; they evoke deep feelings.

"Art in our time is almost uniformly cut off from its origins in the decoration of churches and from commissions to do such work. By and large there is little to see in our church buildings that suggest the narratives of faith or point to the transcendent."

That is because, in general, people, even those within the church, no longer believe the fiction which is the "Holy Bible" and all the other BS associated with today's religion.

Please Peter, could you return to bashing Post Modernism and Atheists. It was much more entertaining.

"We find it an irony that although art in the Latin West and Orthodox East found its beginning in this tradition, very little art in this vein is now produced."

Actually, Peter, art everywhere found its beginning in pictures of stick men with spears chasing aurochs and mammoths around cave walls. Very little of this is now produced either. Is this an irony too? Perhaps people have found better, safer, more productive things to do.

They also expose hidden history; like Peter's daughter, the alleged first female pope!?
