In the minds of Abbott's worst critics, Turnbull represents a moderate panacea to the problem of popular and palatable governance.

remember how popular Rudd was and yet was unable to stop the knife in his back after one term. Abbott has seen off Turnbull,Rudd, Gillard and Rudd. Not bad for someone who his haters called unelectable. One could argue that his opposition has been very very poor. Then again now it is flip flop flip flop Mr Shorten. Another Labour/union stooge.

A good lucid article.

Turnbull as Lady in Waiting since 2009 will not wait forever when he has so many other career options. When Abbott weakens he'll pounce.

Turnbull wants power but doing something positive when he gets it is something else.

It need only be recalled that, when Leader of the Opposition, Turnbull nurtured Godwin Grech towards self-destruction or when Water Minister in the Howard Government Turnbull said all but achieved nothing.

Turnbull sorely wants to be PM but really wants to be Australia's first President (once the Queen goes).

If Malcolm Turnbull is re-elected leader, it would not surprise to see his Leftist policies come to the fore -- in fact, he would not be out of place performing as a member of Labor or even the Greens.

Despite the ABC flouting the impartiality provisions in its charter ( e.g. it has a closed mind on anthropogenic climate change (AGW) , closing out any views that question AGW; it is consistently Left-biased in political reporting; it is closely allied with the gay lobby in promoting gay marriage), Malcolm, as the responsible minister, behaves as though he is a member of Friends of the ABC.

Given the annual generous $1.3 billion government handout to the ABC, at the very least he should be calling for a total review of the ABC , as some thirty years have elapsed since the last review -- during which time the Australian broadcasting scene has changed enormously, such that there is no longer any market niche in which the ABC is the sole provider.

Yes Raycom

Your fear of the vile Communist ABC, to the left of North Korea, is well shaken, not stirred.

And Turnbull is its Kommissar.

Beware - we should fear the ABC Red Square.

And bring back McCarthyism I hope.

actually plantagenet I doubt it is fear just sickened by the lies and propganda funded by the tax payer. I wonder what percentage of the warmist religion supporters and perverted marriage brigade are on the public purse. A high percentage I suspect.

Hi runner and Rayman

For those with fewer brain cells than a box of Smarties the ABC threatens comprehension.

I can therefore understand your fears of the happy and gay diversity that the ABC brings.

Commercial TV is Conservative and Safe like the Church.

For some - endless commercials spruiking Hungry Jacks, Sports Betting and Australia's foreign built autos, provide time for the brain-cells to catch up.

Like Public Health in America a Public Broadcaster smacks of Communism.

Therefore low taxed Commercial TV or Pay-TV, all cross-subsidized by your Income Tax, should be the only "Choice".

Cheers
