The samurai awaken : Comments

By Tom Clifford, published 24/4/2014

Collective self-defense is a loosely defined phrase, and this is deliberate. The Japanese government wants to keep any definition abstract and open for interpretation.

Its the Leftist airheads who talk of Hiroshima, according to their anti-American mantra, while they ignore Japanese racist aggression in the 1930s-1940s that led to the deaths of 25 million Chinese.

These Rape of Nanking deniers disregard human rights.

The deaths of 25 million Chinese is not ignored!
However, given all those responsible are pushing up the daises, it hard to know what else today's Japanese can do?
Should the Russian nation be held accountable for the deaths of 25 million Russians, at the hands of Stalin, or the Germans, virtually all of who weren't even born, to answer for the deaths of six million Jews?
The Japanese have a right to Honor heroic war dad, defend themselves, or match the Chinese quite massive military build up, regardless of what some of their grandparents did or didn't do 70-80 years ago!
If there's oil or gas or any other valuable mineral, in the tiny uninhabited specks of disputed rock, why don't they simply share it?
Even if there is some, it's probably small, and hardly worth going to war over.
As for aggression?
Well, only China has annexed any other nation since WW11 ended!
Moreover, if China does push too hard, it may find it has more than Japan to deal with, but every other nation in that area, with which it contests various land issues or sovereignty with!
Japan may or may not have a nuclear arsenal, but I'll wager they could have one in weeks, and in missiles ready to deploy, from silos, inside months.
I mean, they've been using nuclear for power generation for decades, and have considerable plutonium reserves, set aside for FBR's, allegedly!
And it already has the fifth largest military in the world!
Moreover, china is not a completely united land, and has significant human rights issues, that must make it, and more to the point, the Leadership, extremely vulnerable, if it ever decided to do more than rattle the odd sabre.
Besides, it needs to continue to trade with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and America, just to keep the economy growing fast enough, to repay debt, and keep its own population largely onside.
I'd like to know how many died during the cultural wars, or Maoist purges, just to see just who are the real and much more recent villains?
