If the score required to enter a university was increased to some more realistic level, the number of students who start a university course and then drop out in the first year because they find it too hard, would also increase. The end result would be less students getting HECS loans.

I completely agree with the suggestion that HELP debt should be recovered from deceased estates. I think that there is also scope to take spouse incomes into consideration when determining HELP repayments.

...The elimination of “Mickey Mouse” courses in Universities, would address the imbalance of student loans easily. (The TAFE system is plagued with them): It is useless education!

...A requirement to pay from the outset, the interest component of the loan, has commercial imperative! What we observe here is a debt “Bubble” created by Government intervention in the market!

...The debt “Bubble” is comparable to the negative interventionist distortion observed in the real estate market which drives housing costs, and subsequently home ownership, out of reach of the general population!
