The moment may well have come to look long and hard at aid and what it's capable of doing, but that doesn't appear to be what's happening.

All on point - especially the last two paras. After years of Rudd-Embassy micro-management Julie Bishop is a breath of fresh air.

I'm placing bets that Rudd will become Ambassador to the UN or High Commissioner London. Ambassador Beijing?

Hopefully the DFAT budget won't be further slashed.
