Phonics is simple and effective, Caring™ people want convoluted and complex so they can set up a lifetime of opportunity for themselves (and cultural mates). Some poor Westie can't read a label or uses a calculator to do change of a $4 coffee from a $10, it's not the Primary teacher fault, its White Privilege, Sexism, CO2 or something. A nice little opportunity for some "Social Scientist" with a "B"ugger "A"ll to stick their snout into the public pocket.
