Also Abbot is going solve the growth in refugees entering Australia. Give the UN Current estimate of 40 million refugees with many more to come because of rising sea levels, more extreme weather, Sadly Mr Abbot and Rudd know and both are responsible for drowning 100,000s of boat people them because the Australian navy only accounts the ones that are reported to them. The reality is that thousands of overcrowded little boats from many countries have sank before entering Australian territorial waters or died in traveling to and in Asian refugee camps. What Abbot needs is to kill two birds with one stone by solving top end and refugee problems at the same time
What is needed is 3 million heat adapted refugees invited to live there to live in the top end with 5 years contracts, flown in from asia and housed. A new Land Army Division to mobilize them to use Australian agricultural knowhow initially at officer Officer and NCO level. I think refugees with some farming experience would prefer to stay when their contract ends to
look after the livestock, crops, fishing boats and fish farms. The mining companies know how to build suitable homes. The townships be laid out like medium density English New Towns experienced architects and planner brought in for that purpose. The WA fat lady could fund them.
Abbot’s top current top end vision reminds me of the 1970’s hippy exodus north to Queensland that failed and all that is left is some communes, art, craft and tourist shops
