By Marjorie Cohn, published 27/5/2013

Obama explained how he plans to continue his war on terror without calling it a war on terror.

Obama has been more complicit than Bush in turning the USA into a police state.Obama's NDAA enabled the US Military to arrest and detain indefinitely anyone in the West with no trial or legal council.

Obama has also legalised assassination of suspected terrorists. Home grown terrorists are now in focus.Does that make all citizens suspected terrorists ?

Zibigniew Brezezinski said in 1998,'What we need is a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat." The other neo cons were calling for a new "Pearl Harbour". The threat they created was endless undefined terrorism, nurtured by the Western Imperialist forces.

I fully agree with the UN and Marjorie Cohn's premise that Muslim terrorists in Gitmo should not be force fed. It would be better to let them starve to death and get rid of them that way.

Marjorie's customary anti US rant is littered with all sorts of demands about what the US should do, and how it is so cruel to the Guantanamo inmates. But nowhere in Marjorie 's article is there any mention of the fact that there are a bunch of terrorists who want to kill infidels, because we will not bow to their non existent God. Marjorie only refers to the terrorists as victims of the USA.

Next comes the expected bile about US drone strikes. The USA has a very effective weapon against the terrorist leaders and their supporters. The US has killed so many terrorists that Allah is running out of virgins to keep them happy. Marjorie thinks that this is just awful. How can any terrorist sit in the sun with a shrimp on the barbie, with all of those damned Global Hawks and Reapers buzzing around his ears?

The targetting of terrorist leaders is a stroke of military brilliance. The terrorist leaders can get any number of madrass conditioned and genetically inbred morons to go and be suicide bombers, but the leaders, although they love Allah, do not seem to be in any hurry to join Him. They have got all the money, power and sex they want, and it is damned inconvenient to have to keep hiding from the yanks.

Finally Marjorie thunders that the people of the west should be cowed by the fact that the Muslims hate us for killing their finest. It never seems to occur to Marjorie that the constant attacks upon the western world is making Islam the most hated religion in the civilised world. And we matter a damned site more than a bunch of crazies with Kalashnikovs who do not possess the wit to do anything other than to want to kill anyone who is not as backward as they are.

Drone strikes are not necessarily a bad thing.

Consider this: would you prefer waiting for a cancer to manifest itself, or would you like to be pro-active and look for it actively and anticipate the next move before it's too late

Furthermore, since when did the secret services of various allied countries not use lethal force to silence potential threats?

Drones are only another tool in the arsenal of weapons used by the US.
