By David Singer, published 21/5/2013

A reality TV show in Palestine provides the only opportunity the population have to truly state their opinion.

I seem to recall reading numerous articles by Singer expressing a keenness for Palistinians to have a vote in their future as, at the moment, it is only Isreali Palistinians who get to vote at the moment.

And yes, Hamas would probably win a free and fair election with the simple expediency of throwing opposition candidates off tall buildings, as has been demonstrated before. If you would like to be 'friends' with them, that is your concern, however, others may not feel the same as you, you know, in a democratic sort of way.

FACT 1 -
The Palestinian Arabs have not had a vote since 25 January 2006

FACT 2
The 2006 vote was repudiated by Abbas who refused to accept the decision and dismissed the popularly elected Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh. That conduct was clearly unacceptable and unjustified.

FACT 3
Every state can decide whether to have diplomatic relations with any other state or entity following the election of the Government. Most of the Arab states do not recognise Israel even though it has elections at least once every four years. That is their prerogative as it was Israel's decision to refuse to deal with Hamas Prime Minister Haniyeh had he remained in power as Prime Minister.

FACT 4
The Palestinian Arabs have to live with the consequences of their vote and the position other states take in relation to the political consequences of that vote.

The comments of David G,, Marilyn Shepherd and milk indicate they have no real interest in seeing the Palestinian Arabs being given the vote that these three take for granted.

It would be nice if.they could explain why.

The TV show offers some glimmer of hope that there might be elections sooner than later.

Whoever wins - wins. What follows is up to each other country to decide. But at least the people will have had their say.
