By Babette Francis, published 15/4/2013

Instead of raiding superannuation piggy banks, Treasurer Swan should cut Australian funding for abortion services in our overseas aid.

Many documentaries portray Hitler as the most evil man in history or at least of the 20th century. However some of these practices make Hitler look like a choir boy. The world rightly applauded the executions of the Nazi war criminals for their horrendous crimes but here we are in the 21st century going down the same road. In fact this trend occurred as early as 1948 when a Dr Leo Alexander warned in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine that America was heading down the same road. I have seen so many documentaries about the SS shooting people and burying them in mass graves. Today there are no mass graves. The bodies are disposed of by sterile waste companies. It is all so clean and hygienic and gives no offense. One company in Victoria connected with a pro-life group got into a lot of trouble for handling the bodies of dead babies for abortions. But that wasn't a problem because there are plenty of other companies which dispose of such waste.

Babette should be commended for highlighting the need for Australia to dissociate itself from funding sex-selective abortions, whether in Australia or elsewhere.

It is not just a question of finding budget savings, but one of basic moral right. It is hypocritical and undoubtedly discriminatory, for human rights organisations to champion human rights, but then deny unborn babies any rights whatsoever. After all, human life starts at the moment of conception.

While the labelling of John Madigan as a US senator is inadvertent, it is interesting that the US state of North Dakota recently passed SCR 4009, which would add a section to the state Constitution stating, “The inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and defended.” It will be submitted to North Dakota voters at the 2014 general election, and if voters pass the resolution, its text will be added to the state Constitution.

It is abhorrent that the Australian government should provide funding for abortion services not only in Australia, but also as part of overseas aid.

Yeah, why is this crank driven crap published? It is none of our business if poor women want to have abortions.

We have just restored the foreign aid budget to allow abortions but have now cut it for food so Gillard can build more illegal refugee prisons.

While I do agree with Kenny, I am certainly not an advocate of sex selection abortions, unless there are gender-related genetic conditions suffered by the foetus.

I can't believe that our Government provides funds to China and India towards sex selection abortions. I would like to see proof of that.

There is a world of difference between allowing women to make their own informed decisions about whether or not to have abortions themselves, and those that are forced to have abortions because they are pregnant with a second child.

I don't believe that sex selection should be allowed in these countries where males are more 'valuable' than females, as this causes a multitude of social problems.

But I have no doubt that this author cares about that at all, but is actually pushing her religious pro-life barrow...

Beautiful sane words from a great Australian Babette Francis.

"I assure you, I guarantee you, that future history is going to remember feminists and everyone else who supported the 20th-21st century Holocaust of the Unborn with every bit as much disgust and horror as today's progressives regard 18th-19th century slavers and 20th century Nazis. The tide is already beginning to turn, as many feminists have finally realized a few of the unforeseen, but retrospectively obvious consequences of their so-called right and begun lobbying for laws against sex-screening and the free exercise of their unholy "right" for officially unapproved reasons.

So, I call on you to rethink your stance, truly rethink it, and repent. Redeem yourself by turning against this evil practice you have supported and speaking out against it. Ask for forgiveness from God and from the millions of innocents whose deaths you rationalized and even encouraged. What is done cannot be undone, but it is never too late to turn away from evil and refuse to continue walking along its dark path.

Stop all the endless rationalizations and justifications. Just stop. They are pointless. You know, in your heart of hearts, they aren't convincing anyone. They aren't even convincing you."
