The Jeffing of Ted Baillieu : Comments

By Greg Byrne, published 19/2/2013

Jeff Kennett's comments drawing attention to the shortcomings of the Victorian Liberal Premier are very significant because Ted Baillieu is his erstwhile protegé.

I couldn't agree more. It has nothing to do with Baillieu not selling himself. (The fact that he doesn't even try says much in itself). There was no great enthusiasm for him or his party at the last election. But Victorians were sick of Brumby and were waiting for him with baseball bats. I recall one ALP member ringing the Libs' campaign office and asking for a Liberal core flute to be posted in his garden. And that is what is going to happen to Baillieu's government. It is his own supporters who feel betrayed. I do not recall campaigning for more speed cameras, for the retention of the desal plant or for the retention of the Human Rights Charter. So why did we get all three? Why was the opinion of his own AG ignored when retaining the Charter? There cannot be more than a handful of Coalition MPS in favour of the charter, so why do we have it? It is members of his own party who have nicknamed him One-term Ted, or Ted the Red. So the coalition can publicize their achievements until they are blue in the face but will still be gone at the next election unless they change leaders very soon.

I also agree with the article. As a conservative my entire life, (I'm over 70) I think Mr Baillieu has been a total failure.

I must admit, I don't know him, but to me he seems awfully weak. Almost insipid, lost in fact. Unable or unwilling to make a decision, even a small, insignificant decision. For an example, he seems unwilling to deal with enacting special legislation to ensure Julian Knight is incarcerated for the rest of his natural life, never to be released. For goodness sake, he has full support from Labour !

He needs to go. He MUST go. Perhaps, he may be more comfortable within the Labour ranks, in company with Malcolm Turnbull, and that other aweful aweful man, ugh ! Malcolm Fraser. The most arrogent, bumptious, and loathsome individual I've ever had the misfortune to meet. To think that I ever voted for that 'person' questions every bit of ethical thinking I can possibly muster ?

For the sake of your State Mr Baillieu, please go, and go now.

It's a dismal state of affairs when the state leader of the Liberals is a man with seemingly no principles. He is the ALP's greatest asset for advancing its social engineered agenda and for predictably taking hs party out of government. But hey, the PP elected him didn't they? If the Libs want a chance of re-election, Baillieu's gotta go.
Good article, Greg Byrne. If Jeff jeffed Ted, you've byrned 'im.

I suppose karma comes to all, even to Ted. At last we get pay-off for all the letter writing, letter boxing, How to Vote activities at polling booths, and of course all of the prayers. Hopefully now there will be a chance to wind back some of this horrible abortion legislation.
