What makes us believe our current legal system is fair? Habit, or the facts?

...When over 90% of incarcerations in the NT (as example) are Aboriginals, the authors’ version of justice will only exacerbate the untenable.

And:

6: contaminated evidence:

...A poignant example of this little gem, (contaminated evidence) at work is currently acting out before us, in the on-going Allan Jones saga! I think a court room is already a “dogs breakfast” without the application of surreptitious evidence.

The outcome of the Peter Slipper case will be interesting. TheLabour government must be regretting their smart move bribing him to take over the speaker's job. Now his emails regarding women and their genitals should make spicy reading if they get into the pulic domain.

Surely he won't still be permitted to travel overseas on taxpayers'money
What an arrogant man he is. Oh sorry I should not perhaps have said "man" more one of Alan Jones"kind.
Labour party are really providing good entertainment these days.

Unfortunately the general public does not see the importance of what Evan Whitton is trying to get across to them, most people tend to think that "our" judges enjoy "independence" and are therefor incorruptible.
Unless court proceedings effect them personally they show a complete lack of interest, and it is this that keeps "the bastards dishonest"
We do need a change in the way "judges" are appointed, and one of the few things that I agree with Tony Abbott on, is his suggestion that "we will eventually be electing our judges" not the best solution but it may force the general public to think a little more about the legal system.
Judges should NOT come from the ranks of solicitors, they should come only from "judges school" it will take exceptional people to take on this task, they will have few friends and not beholding to anyone, which is almost the opposite of what we have now, to many of to days judges have "connections" with the horse racing industry, some thing they should keep well away from, there are many other dubious "enterprises" that they should be banned from but they are up to their necks in.
