Plain packaging isn't enough to stop young kids taking up smoking.

I think the Government just wants to be seen trying to pander to the Australian Medical Association and the Cancer Council, to name a few.
All the Government really wants is the revenue from the taxes .

Work on banning all tobacco sales within 5 years (which gives current smokers plenty of time to give up) and I will believe they really care about our health..

Prohibtion doesn't work, and everyone knows it.
I do agree that it's just another tax grab though.

Prohibition may not work with things like alcohol, however, smoking is nowhere near as popular as it once was.

There are much fewer places left to actually smoke at now, for instance.
As time goes on, people will be sued if they smoked at home when non-smokers were present for instant.

It will just become too expensive to smoke, in more ways than one.
I still think the day will come when smokes are prohibited...
