Innocence of the Muslims is not the root cause of the intensifying protests and the death of the US envoy to Libya.

...The author makes obvious sense from the “nonsensical”. I also think it would be an appropriate time for American citizens to be extra vigilant when travelling abroad.

Concise and to the point.

I agree that the attack on the US consulate in Libya had nothing to do with the release of “Innocence of Muslims” either on YouTube or on Islamic TV just over a week ago, and that it was a retaliatory move over the death of al-Libi.

However, what has occurred since, around the world, is not. The movie (if it can even be called that) has indeed provided a red herring, and like all bait, it has been snapped up, not just by the radical element of Islam, but by their detractors too.

Therefore, congratulations to all who were involved in or supported the riots that are still occurring around the world, and to all those who have reacted, and continue to over-react, so angrily to them. You have all played your part admirably, as you were intended to do. To dismiss the film, and the intentions behind its dubbing into Arabic and its release on Islamic TV, is dangerous.

The reasons behind a western (read US) abstention from intervention in Syria go beyond the usual rhetoric. The US is facing a momentous election at a time of internal economic gloom and, now it would seem, increased hatred from extreme Muslim groups; Israel is stirring the pot and poking their nose where it does not belong; Iran is refusing to play nicely in the sandbox and all the while the UN is standing by and wringing its hands in despair. The west (US) has a lot to deal with. Syria does not feature too highly on their to-do list at the moment. Nor, I suspect, does post-Gaddafi Libya. Whether this changes will depend on whom the Americans choose to call their next President.

Libya was invaded for several reasons. The oil in which China was involved in developing there. The 130 tons of gold. The independant banking system which the Western Oligarchs wanted to crush.Lastly the fact that Gaddafi was working on an African currency backed by gold which would have rivalled the $ US.

This was all about Western Imperialism.
