David Singer is part of the zionist push to eradicate Palestine from, not only the map, but from history. Israel's extreme right wing government is fine for zionists, but has been a disaster for palestinians, bedouins and others It is nothing short of ethnic cleansing and the Israeli lobby AIPAC has inordinate influence on US. If there is ever to be peace in that part of the world, then the violence has to be stopped and US has to stop supporting Israel with billions of taxpayer monies. US should immediately pay its dues to UN.

Australia has a number of options here. We could for example send the American troops stationed on Australian soil home until the USA shoulders its responsibilities to UNESCO instead of running off in a tanty because the vote didn't go their way.

Australia could increase its contribution and encourage others to do the same.

Australia could put pressure on Israel to dismantle its illegal settlements so that a negotiated settlement is possible.
After all if "“Australia strongly supports the aspirations of the Palestinian people for their own state and believes a negotiated peace process between the parties is the way to achieve this…"
then our government would put pressure on Israel to end the Occupation.

There is a lot Australia could do and it is a shame none of it is being done

Mr Singer’s newly found empathy for the disadvantaged and recognition of UN laws is an unparalleled revelation. I can't remember Mr Singer saying anything about America when it withdrew its funding from a UN program to reduce Africans dying from HIV/AIDS because the organization encouraged contraception as the most efficient and effective way to break the spiralling number of deaths.

Mr Singer also doesn't mention that Israel responsible in collecting Palestinian taxes on behalf of the Palestinian Authority has decided to keep it. Stealing what little money Israel collects from Palestinian taxation is typical of the grubby Israeli mind set. The UN forbids an occupying country to collectively punish the occupied people and Israel is clearly in breach of the law.
The few countries that voted against Palestine were well paid in cash or in kind but the overwhelming majority even in the face of USA money and power and Israeli promises voted for morality and justice.

The countries that voted for Palestine have a deep feeling of friendship with the Palestinians as unlike America or Israel the Palestinians have nothing to barter for their friendly county’s vote. Israel can only dream of such support at the UN where a Machiavellian philosophy usually wins the day.

As for Australia gaining a seat at the UN Security Council, something I strongly supported during the last tilt by Gareth Evans I fear will never be realized while Australia is seen as offering nothing new; America’s Deputy in the South Pacific. Australia while retaining good ties with America should draw closer to its neighbours and start to etch out an independent foreign policy.

We Australians must grow up declare our independence from Britain and while retaining close ties with America and Israel we must look only to where our advantage lies. We must pursue a policy independently of America and particularly Israel as we have no business in the Middle East and where we do have business our self interest lies with the Arab states. Daily we are losing a substantial market and prpjected influence by our myopic and erroneous foreign policy.

The Global Political landscape is changing.Obama is not sympathetic to Israel and the lies about Iran.

The Israeli state is both racist and has this religious superiority dysfunction referring to non Jews as Goyim. They are God's chosen people and others only exist for their comfort and profit.

Another day though they are getting further apart, another load of predigested Israeli propaganda, presented by that fine member of the Propaganda dept,Mr Singer still paying by the word Dave.
I think David its about time you stopped pushing the BS and the racist policy of the Govt of Israel, told them to stop playing the Germans to Cthe Palestinian Arabs, and let the weak US Congress and Senate have a free vote, free of the blackmail of the Israeli Lobby money in the US and Australia.
But then I forgot the Lobby does not exist, according to you and your cohorts, stick with the murdering settlers Dave you are right at home with them and their thieving murdering ways.
