Yes, hipocrisy has become a specialty of western politics. It is rather sickening to see the unedited replaying of US media stories about the evil Iranians on commercial TV channels here and to hear our ABC reporters spouting the anti-Iran mantra so uncritically. We are being led by the nose into war once again but this one will devastate the world economy as the Strait of Hormuz is blocked (or nobody is willing to insure oil shipments throught the Strait which will amount to the same thing). Perhaps that is the whole idea - to give western politicians something else to blame for our economic woes rather than the greedy 0.001%.

Up until the present, the Iranian government has shown commendable restraint. One wonders for how long they will refrain from blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a decision which will certainly not be taken lightly in view of the repercussions it will attract from the US.

Iran is working on a nuclear weapon, exactly the same way as Iraq, North Korea, India and Pakistan did. All of these countries initially assured the rest of the world that they were not doing so, before three of them proudly detonated nukes and gave the rest of the world the finger.

Even the limp wristed Euros are sheeting blue bricks over the Idea of a nuclear armed Iran, and have instituted meaningful sanctions on Iran. Of course the Ruskies and the Chingos have backed Iran. Anything they can do to stuff up the yanks and the Euros they will do quite happilly. But whether they have thought that one out is doubtful. Try thinking nuclear armed Chechen rebels and Sinkiang separatists.

However, the Iranians are just dumb enough to close the straits of Hormuz, and that wil mean war with the USA, and probably the Euros and the ANZACS as well. Since the Arabs hate the Persians almost as much as they hate us, we could probably win a few kudos with the Arabs if we creamed the Iranians. Not that they would be grateful to us for removing the Persian nuclear threat to them, mind you.

Whatever virtues the Islamic faith teaches its adherents, gratitude does not appear to be the most prominent.

The USA have many of these unwelcome Moslem troublemakers in their midst,but being a democracy,can't do much about it until an actual crime is committed.

Abolghase seems obsessed with Israel and the gross unfairness of Israel's discussions regarding the possibility or necessity of a preemptive strike against Iran.
Well,seeing the Iranian President and Supreme Leader routinely warn of their commitment to completely obliterate Israel and are working towards that goal ,what do you expect Israel to do-lie back and enjoy it?
The last IAEA report(Nov 2011) had serious concerns about the possibility of an Iranian nuclear bomb being imminently available,but could not verify this due to lack of Iranian cooperation (of course)
The next report due in a few months will be a lot more pessimistic apparently,availability could be anytime.
Anyhow, the whole world ,except dear Abolgase,knows Iran is well on the way to possessing military nuclear capability ,so lets cut out the crap.
When this happens a lot of other countries apart from Israel will feel threatened-Europe,USA, Saudi Arabia to name a few.
In fact all countries except those with a majority of Shi'ites.
