Reagan qualified to be the Prez - oh puleez.

Reagan was the master illusionists. He ushered in what is described in another book by Chris Hedges titled The Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and The Triumph of The Spectacle.

Who is qualified to be the USA President?
Quite literally nobody.
Was the the village idiot from Texas qualified?

It is easily the worlds most demanding job, especially in the now 24/7 GOTCHA "news" cycle/circus when even the most trivial comment or action by Barack and Michelle is blown completely out of proportion. And when the only publicly stated purpose of the GOP is to get rid of Obama, using whatever means they can.

Even more so because the Prez becomes the focus and TARGET of the collective USA psyche, especially all of its toxic aspects. Obama used to be called the anti-christ and is still treated as such.
So too with the First Lady, especially if she is perceived to be uppity or forceful as in the case of Hilary and Michelle.

Meanwhile of course Chris Hedges also wrote a book titled American Fascists: The Christian Right and The War On America.
I would suggest that this book should be compulsory reading for anyone who is concerned about the future of America.
Especially now when the social "conservatives" (psychotics) are mobilizing to defeat the relatively moderate(sic) Romney in the GOP primaries.

You might also like to check out the copious amounts of stuff on the internet re the "character" of Newt Gingrich.

For all of his flaws I would suggest that Obama is at least recognizable as a relatively sane human being.

Daffy Duck "Obama sane"? Obama destroys the Constitution will Preventative Detention, legalises assassination and now passes a law where the military can arrest anyone and hold them indefinitely without legal council or proof of a crime or its intent. This is fascism.

You are not well informed thus not qualifed to really comment.

I think american leaders have an even harder task than here dealing with the electorate. If only someone invented a mirror which reflects mentality.

This is fascism.
Arjay,
Sounds like Fascism might be more effective in crime control than our present system.

Accept that premise Individual, then you and your family could end up in one of their Gulags. They are presently manning the 600+ FEMA camps in the USA and the Wall St Criminals and their bankster mates won't be inmates.

The FEMA camps are for the masses who are uprising against this injustice of financial theft and illegal wars.

Arjay,
In an extreme situation yes. However, a tiny little piece of fascism would definitely curb the thieving that goes on with impunity in Australia nowadays.
