I can foresee one of two scenarios.
(1) The mainly middle class Muslim Brotherhood will become so spooked by the Salafists that they'll form a "nudge and wink" alliance with the military. The MB will deliver peace in exchange for a modicum of Islamisation and a share of the spoils.
OR
(2) Factions within the MB will feel an extremist tug from the Salafists and a de facto alliance of Salafists and factions within the MB will emerge.
But here is my forecast.
A decade hence most Egyptians will be even poorer, hungrier and more desperate than they are today.
What all Egyptian factions should be doing is following Bill Clinton's motto in 1992.
It's the economy stupid.
