Assassins of Memory: The problem with targeting Bin Laden : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 16/11/2011

One can only conclude that the American security establishment can’t deal with bin Laden with any measure of sense.

OK so lefty anti-American? suggests America should have just accepted a foreign attack on its soil that killed 3,000 of its citizens in cold blood. A murdering son of a billionaire (bin Laden) should have been allowed to live.

What would Australia have done if Sydney had been similarly attacked?

Now let the lunatic 9/11 conspiracy theorists hold their pieces.

Forty-five years on, the slaughter, the assassinations and the executions of Hitler-Stalin’s vintage having touched the sacred soil of the very heart of America, we’ll see a re-play of the “all the way with LBJ” with only one variant; kisses in lieu of handshakes.

Plantagenet, it all is somehow crazy, insane.

Which terrorists were you referring to 579? Bin Laden wasn't piloting the planes on 9/11, was he? In what capacity was he involved in 9/11? Does any one know? Was he just a figure head for Atta and the others who so selfishly suicided (very inconsiderate) and thus denied the US anyone obvious to punish?

There was no problem in targetting Bin Laden.

They succeeded... without casualties and with the loss of one helicopter.

Consequences.

A whinging Pakistani military and a few anti-American commentators (Who I don't recall ever criticised in print the perpertrators of terrorist acts against westerners )... and quite a few westerners saved from the planned futures antics of the mass murderer.

Oh and there seem to have followed the similar deaths of the inheritors of the head of al qaeda.

A trial and execution would have only given this architect of mass murder and terror a platform for spewing anti-western venom and propaganda and would have assisted his usuual 'haunting the West with video footage, pronouncements and promises of permanent retribution in the name of an imminent Caliphate.'.

Good riddance and well done USA ..
