On the road to Mandalay things seem to be thawing.

Ah, Myanmar. Another socialist paradise, this one with the potholes as big as bath-tubs, and that's in the middle of the capital.

Don't worry, Australia has its own socialists who want to do to our electricity supply what the Burmese have done to their roads. There's one on OLO today. Isn't political power a wonderful thing?

If a majority in Myanmar had voted to have things that way, that would not be much recommendation of abuses, would it? The problem is not lack of democracy, it's lack of freedom.

On independence in 1948, Burma was the richest country in South-East Asia. Food for thought. Oh that's right, that was those dreadfully exploitative British.
