Sri Lanka is denying all human rights to members of its minority Tamil population. It should be suspended from the Commonwealth.

I agree this issue has been going on for far too long , it is an abscess on civilisation .
Am I confused in thinking an issue such as this would attract the attention of the UN ?
Surely this situation could be described as Genocide it is certainly more than Racial Discrimination .

Australia needs to reconsider "Boat People" our current position is no longer tenable it simply has become too ugly for a civilised Australia .

Garum, I think that the UN spends most of its energy on Israel and hence remains blinded to other areas such as Sri Lanka. Apparently the evil deed of building houses in Jerusalem suburbs is more important an issue than the genocide of the Tamils.

Garum, you missed my point. This issue (Israel) has dominated the UN for so long at the expense of far more significant problems. e.g The previous genocide in Darfur, the oppression of Tibetans, the current huge massacres in Syria, and of course the suspected genocide in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately for too long the Israel issue has been a convenient smokescreen applied by certain UN members to enable the continuation of oppression within their own countries. I agree about the injustice in Jerusalem, but what is more serious, building houses or genocide?

Yep! couldnt agree more.

Gillard was elected on a platform of strong border control, but she's been backpedaling ever since

Australian govts need to represent the interests of the majority.
NOT the whims of a minority of unbalanced, illegal immigration activists-- who are already well and truly OVERREPRESENTED on forums like OLO!
