By Bruce Haigh, published 24/8/2011

Boat people apparently threaten their electoral prospects, so they are treated differently and publicly vilified.

jeez, Bruce, anyone who disagrees with this government is publicly vilified - take the last few days, even with Protestors in the gallery of the hose of reps, Anthony Albanese continually called them the convoy of no consequence.

This is how they arrogantly treat Australians, so why should non Australians expect any different?

Get some perspective mate .. this is politics 2011, if you're not with the government, Getup!, AYCC etc, you're against them, the enemy and must be treated as such, thus the ALP green coalition turns against the public at large.

Immigrants, get in line ..

This is a terribly confused sort of a piece. I understand that the author doesn't like the way boat people are treated, but these people injected themselves into the situation. We didn't impose ourselves on them, they did it to us.

I really can't see the problem with a sovereign government doing its best to create a perception that they are unwelcome to do so. I'm sure you do your best to make your property uninviting to intruders. Are you also a bully?
