I agree people will need to act quickly. China is spending enormous amounts on infrastructure, creating literally 'Ghost Towns'; 100's of 1000's of apartments empty which only the wealthy can afford to buy. What will happen when china's property bubble bursts?

Agreed Ken

But it all needs a good solid push along from government.

Instead of government basically pandering to the enormously unsustainable business and whole-of-society model that we are currently following, it needs to very strongly promote the sort of sustainability strategy that you are expressing.

That could make a huge difference, by just putting it out there in the minds of CEOs, and everyone else right across our society.

Even without any new laws or financial incentives to change practices, this could go a long way to engendering real improvements. And it wouldn’t be treading on the toes of the almightily powerful big business lobby. In fact, there is no reason why they wouldn’t agree with it fully.

Leadership from government, that is what we desperately need here.

We cannot afford to leave changes towards a more sustainable future up to the business community alone.
