I'm sure that in your day it was also acceptable for parents to beat their children and men to beat their wives. It was also acceptable to vilify people based upon their racial origins or their sexuality. Times have changed. Get used to it.
You attack rstuart for the manner in which he addresses the author but make no comment on the substance of his or her response. In "your day" people were accorded respect simply because they were born earlier. Now-a-days we are concerned more with the content of their character or the wisdom of their words.
