Alan, that's spot on. We have a government set on destroying wealth for no benefit. You should send your piece to Peter van Onselen, who in The Australian today, on the basis of a very limited static analysis, says that under the anti-emissions initiatives "Lower income households will be better off, middle income households will at least be no worse off." These completely ignores the inefficiencies, distortions and disincentives for business and workers which pervade the package and, as you rightly claim, the Government's whole approach. The costs, in terms of slower growth in employment and incomes, will far outweigh the compensatory aspects of the package and will over time fall most heavily on the poorest in society, those least able to respond to the loss of opportunities.

What's the bet if we actually looked to see what the IPA said at the time about the Hawke and then Keating policy's, we would see positives reviews.

I think not, the truth is the IPA oppose all government actions no matter what the benefit to the public. You’re just another right wing lobby group who are not interested in the common good, only the bottom line.

We have a minority party Government (strung together with regengade Independents and "Water-Melon" Greens)

Being driven by the aforementioned Greens, who have have more of an affinity with the politics of the failed USSR than they do with mainstream Australia.

When monocular zealots make policy, you get exactly what Australia has....

19% agreeing with a government policy and 81% against....

If Gillard had any respect for democracy she would call a general election and put it to the electorate today.... not in another couple of years

Gillard is a dead-duck.... and she will be even deader in two years time.

Labor are running into the wilderness, where at least, they will be able to "camp out" with the greens and chastise a Liberal Government, who truly wants a prosperous Australia, where, dare I say it...

maybe, just maybe "no child will live in poverty" (thanks Bob).

Because "Poverty" will be the outcome of this Carbon Tax shambles,

...... which I can best described as just another errant attempt at Grandiose Socialist Hubris and Meddling

Followed by the Australian Liberal Party being re-elected, to pick up the pieces and set the economy back on a sensible course, following a second term of one socialist invented economic disaster after another.

"This vote of confidence in more control over the economy, flies in the face of evidence about the creation of prosperity."

True. If the carbon (dioxide) tax reform is passed, production costs of every business would be raised by higher energy prices, thus adversely affecting productivity and prosperity.

If the PM and the Greens had their way in pursuing their socialist agenda, they would regulate everything that moved.
