Peter this is a good story and yes many times Ian Leavers has raved on in attempt to paint his members as "little darlings" who can do no wrong, but history has shown that the QPS has a very poor psychological screening process, given the number of good for nothing slime that wormed their way in to "our" police force.
It is clear that some people joined with criminal intent, they fuel the ranting of so called Civil Libertarians (solicitors who want to dig their snouts into the "legal Aid" trough) who's main intent is to show cops in a bad light and thus "persuade" (con) juries into believing "it's all the coppers fault" and good cops have to bear the brunt of barrister's blatant lies in court.
The root cause of cops "cutting corners" as claimed by the CMC is the frustrating and enormous amount of police time wasted by the stunts that go on in "our" courts, until there is a dramatic change to the legal system crime will flourish and that suits those members of the legal industry that glean money from it.
The first action to effect change is to ban solicitors from our Parliaments.

Seems like a pretty sensible author. The only issue is the premise the entire article is based on is that there has been a dramatic increase in armed robberies. The only statistics I can find suggest a decrease in this offence.

Who’d want to be a copper?
A control freak that's who.
Who would want to be a Police Officer is a totally different question & the answer to that is a decent individual with respect for the community & themselves.
Police Officers are severely hampered in carrying out their moral duty due to so many corrupt & incompetent judiciary.
Cops on the other are happily compliant to the revenue mongers in Government.
I personally know Police Officers who say how dismayed they are at the sometimes incomprehensibly irresponsible decisions by some magistrates. There are so many good Police Officers who literally are close to tears out of frustration at the undermining of law & order by some magistrates who will not take on the challenge of changing out-dated laws.
