He just doesn't get it. How much can we grow? There is a limit. No species can expand indefinitely. Either we will reach a balance by rational means or there will be the catastrophes of war, pestilence or famine.

We cannot fully consider social and environmental concerns without the realisation that we cannot grow indefinitely. We may have grown already beyond the capacity of the earth to suport our species.

Population and other growth will be curbed. If we do not do it rationally it will been done in unpleasant ways.

The Labor Party has become completely corrupted by its relationship with the property industry leading to third-world rates of poplation growth that are destroying our per capita wealth and our environment. Just look at what happened in NSW and recent decisions in South Australia where development on our best farmland and multi-storey building in the inner city is simply forced through despite massive opposition. The corruption reaches right to the top - remember how, when Gillard was deputy prime minister, her hair-dresser partner (now our "First Bloke") was given a plum job with the Ubertas Group selling real estate?

"For Queensland Labor to avoid a fate similar to that suffered by NSW Labor it needs to focus all of its energies on providing good government with no time left over for sour grapes"

Labor has had almost two decades of Goss/Beattie/Bligh in which they could have provided " good " Government!

Oliver Cromwell got it right when he dismissed the Rump Parliament on 20 April 1653.

"You have sat here too long for any good you have been doing lately ... Depart, I say; and let us be done with you. In the name of God, go!"

The author wrote>>It may yet prove to be too hard to recover from electorally but courage never comes cheap and more Queenslanders will reap the benefits for years to come.

How?

It's all well and good to sell the eggs, however, one can only sell the chook once.

Now given labors track record of waste and mismanagement of dollars, it's hard to see how future queenslanders will benefit from the proceeds of these asset sales, unless of cause the author is referring to the next few years.

>>The ALP has always sought to be the voice of the working people and has traditionally served as a counterbalance to the political forces of capital and industry. Conditions, fair pay, safe workplaces and family-friendly employment practices have always been central to the ALP’s mission and they remain so today. To this working core of priorities has been added in recent years social and environmental concerns as well as a more sophisticated understanding of the needs of small businesses and the growth of the economy as a whole.

Now there's a laugh!

At a time when small business was most at need of support,(GFC) labor (federal) made employing people harder.

>> In the coming years the Labor Party will need to hold its nerve and remain dedicated to ensuring fairness for working people while doing so without deliberate rancour towards business.

Easy to do. Reward small business for employing people, while removing the benefits provided to them for both importing ready made goods and buying automated equipment, both of which cost jobs.

You see labor rewards us for buying foreign made equipment, accelerated depreciation is one example, then punishes us for employing to many people with pay roll tax.

You see, businesses still run factories that employ 30, 40, even 200 people, still a small business, however, if we get our goods made in China, where someone else employs those workers, then we pay no payroll tax. Go figure!

In most life experiences, one gets rewarded for doing well, however, when it comes to creating lots of jobs, the opp applies.
