PNG so far as I am aware has been & still is receiving over a million Dollars a day from Australia. Not bad when you consider that our pensioners don't even get money back that they initially paid in for their pension. Ah yes, all priorities on track.

Finally! Some commonsense into the real or should be debate. Our generosity is making us look like suckers. Home is where the heart is.

The definition of the word.. Independence...mmmm! Why is this still our problem?

Uncontrolled population growth is a problem in PNG. It was not a problem before missionaries came as the local people employed natural abortificients to keep their numbers in reasonable limits. The people have been Christianised and taught that these practices were wrong. Many PNG schools are controlled by fundamentalist Christians.

PNG needs to restore the pre-Christian practices which kept the population in balance with the environment, separation of religion and state and schools free of religious mumbojumbo. In that way those who wish to retain their tribal practices and those who wish to enter the modern world can each do so.

The replacement of tribal superstition which was consistent with their ambience with Christian superstition which was not was a backward step.

The definition of the word.. Independence.
TTM,
That word was & still is the Labor definition of shirking responsibility. Same as east Timor with just a little gap where by coincidence the oil is.
Look at the Public Service under Labor. Just about all manual work has been handed to contractors so to avoid responsibility over workers, no matter how much more it costs. Funny how desk jockeys' & teachers' jobs etc. don't get contracted out.
