The Achilles heel of farm debt mediation : Comments

The family farmer now has few friends with any leverage anywhere in the farmer lobby and political sphere.

It is said that these bankrupted farms are being collected up by foreign entities that will use the land for their own needs, also that there is no record of how much of our prime agricultural land has gone this way. One wonders what laws might be in place to ensure proper use of the land and what thought has gone into ensuring our own food supply in the populous 2050s.

Great article, thank you Evan.

Lived and breathed it all over many years.

At the end of the day one can never rely upon banks and government in relation to Farming and Grazing; in fact to the contrary.

Diversity, innovation and finding an excellent accountant [at the same time overseeing and effectively communicating with the accountant regularly] improves farming businesses in dire straits.

Farming 'banks' are a great option during these times and knowing what tax breaks exist within the 'journal'.

Many Farmers and Graziers these days require an additional incoming wage[s] or side business to supplement the income [whether it be themselves, a family member or spouse]
