Compared to a nation like Canada, Australia’s diplomatic footprint in Africa is pitifully small.

The coalition's demand that aid money be spent only locally does seem rather unnecessary but then, the 12 million being offered up to secure a bid (WC I assume) is a bit rank too. Maybe some sense in the latter idea might lead to some sense in the former?

Aid is the problem not the solution.
Before they met us Africans had everything they needed to be African.
I know slavery ripped the guts out of equatorial Africa and created the culture of corruption, but more White interference isn't going to help.
Spend the money combating the Arms trade and instituting gun buyback schemes,$50 for every AK 47 scrapped, Swords Into Ploughshares.
